Review: Anastasia Eye Lights Pencil

This pencil was sent to me by my good friend Amber or GlamTrotter on Youtube and at first, I wasn't sure what it was for so I asked her. Lol. She told me that it was to be used as a browbone highlight.

So, at first, having not used a pencil like this before, I wasn't too sure what I thought about it but now, I really love this pencil.

This pencil is basically the size of a jumbo eye pencil and it is just a yellowy, nude color. Obviously completely matte which is great for a highlight for me. I don't like a lot of shimmer in my highlights which makes this perfect.

This picture shows the pencil swatched on top then swatched and blended out right below it.

I can't say enough how much I love this pencil. It's so creamy and easy to blend.

I use it to highlight my browbone as well as my cheek bones. It's perfect. :)

I have absolutely no complaints about this at all. So, all pros. :)

Review: E.L.F. Hypershine Gloss

So, I won these 3 glosses in a giveaway on Youtube and was actually pretty excited because I actually was looking at ordering them online so this saved me some money.

These glosses retail for $1 on the E.L.F. website. I saw them on there and have seen many rave reviews about them on Youtube so I really wanted to try them. They come in a variety of colors which is a definite plus. But, I'm not really a big gloss person so I was iffy about buying them. But since I won them, I got to test them and let you guys know what I think. :)

My first impression upon opening the package was that they were pretty colors and that the packaging seemed nice.

From top to bottom, the colors I got are: Berry Cherry, Pink, and Cherry Tart.

I won't be reviewing the glosses individually as they all were pretty much the same other than the colors themselves. I really like these glosses, I just found a couple things about them that I didn't like. So, here we go.

Swatches from left to right: Berry Cherry, Pink, and Cherry Tart

As you can see from the swatches, these color are kind of pigmented but, my issue is that my lips are already pretty pigmented so they don't show up much on my lips. So, if you want a lot of pigmentation from these, your lips would have to be pretty light. Also, these tend to be very sticky, which is one thing I hate in a gloss. But, I can deal with it I suppose since I like the formulation of them and how they look. To me, these kind of smell like root beer which doesn't bother me at all. But, if you don't like scented things on your lips, you might want to skip these. So, let's weight the pros and cons.

Pros:

  • Nice pigmentation
  • Convenient packaging
  • Easy to just throw in your bag and go
  • Wide range of colors
  • Smell nice
  • Only cost $1
Cons:
  • Not pigmented if you have a lot of pigment in your lips
  • Packaging is kind of cheap
  • You have to twist the tube about a million times to get product out
  • Very sticky
Where are they sold?
Normally you can only find these products at your local Target of on the E.L.F. website.
Also, I have heard people say that they can sometimes find E.L.F. things at Big Lots and their local dollar stores although I've never seen them there.

Would I recommend these?
Yes, for the price tag, these glosses are definitely worth a shot as long as you can get past the sticky feeling on your lips.
